Theme, Opinion, Practice

The 2019 Beijing Sister City Youth Camp is divided into four sections, namely the International Youth Organization Forum, the Belt and Road Initiative International Volunteer Service Dialogue, and experience of sharing activities, as well as ice-breaking and get-togethers.

The main forum is themed at “youth & global sharing”. Representatives of youths from all over the world made keynote speeches. Yang Nanhua, representative of Chinese youths from BAIC International, said in his speech “achievement comes from development; development benefits from science and technology.” In response to the Belt and Road Initiative, to contribute to the building of a community of shared future for mankind, BAIC not only applies its sci-tech development to the Chinese market but also shares its sci-tech development for years with the world; with seven R&D centers in five countries, BAIC absorbs and applies R&D achievements; in the meantime, BAIC builds OEM and KD factories in over 30 countries and regions abroad, which embodies its local responsibilities as a Chinese enterprise and international responsibility as a world enterprise.

By centering on “sharing”, the sub-forums respectively focused on global sci-tech sharing, global cultural sharing and global green sharing. Youth representatives from BAIC International and BAIC BJEV shared opinions respectively on cultural sharing and sci-tech sharing. Volunteers from Beijing Automotive Technology Center and BAIC BJEV hosted the sub-forums.

The Belt and Road Initiative International Volunteer Service Dialogue gathered representatives of youth organizations from all over the world to discuss the development of Belt and Road Initiative volunteer services in roles respectively as government, NGO, enterprise and media so as to deepen opportunities and challenges in the development of Belt and Road Initiative volunteer services, develop thoughts about work and suggestions for work, and explore potential contributions. The Dialogue also refined and summarized excellent ideas and suggestions and promoted implementation.

In the experience of sharing section, all campers experienced sci-tech sharing at BAIC Group on October 21. They learned global sharing in sci-tech innovation of the auto industry and had an objective understanding of China’s construction of a great modern socialist country. In the following four days, the campers experienced green sharing by hiking on the Great Wall, going to communities and sharing green life of Beijing, and understood the lively practice of China in spreading the concepts of environmental protection and sustainable development and promoting the construction of ecological civilization; they also went to Yanqi Lake, where the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held, to explore cooperation in the field of economic sharing and understand the great contribution of China to promoting world economic development and building a community of shared future for mankind; in addition, they had an experience of cultural sharing by going to the Forbidden City and Dashilan’r outside the Qianmen Gate and experienced the beauty and grandeur of traditional Chinese culture.

As a much-concerned non-governmental diplomatic event for youths, Beijing Sister City Youth Camp aims to promote communication between youths, make the youths’ voice heard, share the wisdom of youths and offer the thoughts of youths. It hopes to build a platform for exchanges and mutual learning between youths around the world and make them cultural ambassador to contribute to shared development and construction of a community of shared future for mankind.
